You Got The Beet Smoothie

Beets are packed with complex carbohydrates and are an excellent source of quick energy for the active lifestyle.

Here is a low calorie, immune boosting, healthy and delicious smoothie. Drink it in the morning to feel vibrant, or use it as an afternoon pick-me-up before a high powered sweat session.

Serves: 2

Prepare: 5 minutes

Storage: Best consumed immediately

Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-boiled beet, roughly chopped
  • 4 pre-boiled carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
  • 1 apple, cored and roughly chopped
  • 2-3 fine slices fresh ginger
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 1 cup (250ml) water

1. Place the water (start with 120ml and add more for your desired consistency) carrots and beet in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.

2. Add the celery stalks and continue to blend. Gradually mix in the remaining ingredients, reserving the apple for last. Add more water if necessary and blend for a creamy beet smoothie.

3. Serve immediately.

Tip: You can top it up with a sprinkle of sunflower seeds.
